Jamie Cartwright to share his inspiring story at active-net UK in March

Jamie Cartwright is a co-owner of Hatton Boxing and founder of BOX12. In 2021 Jamie participated in the Channel 4 hit series of ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’, it was here that the motivation for participating in the grueling programme was shared publicly for the first time. The impact and support that followed this was overwhelming.

Jamie will share his extraordinary and compelling story of survival and inner strength he had to find following on from abuse he suffered from a well-known paedophile football coach. Cartwright will explain how he hid the abuse for 25 years, with devastating consequences to his mental health, yet still managed to pursue a successful career.

Now working with the FA to make football safe for all children, he will also share his dramatic road to recovery, to show how it’s possible to not only survive but thrive even in the darkest of times.

“I want to raise awareness of how debilitating trauma can be in life and highlight the signs of mental health struggles that we can all look out for. More importantly, I want to show that there is life after trauma and how everyone can be the person they deserve to be,” says Cartwright.

Dave Monkhouse, director of Leisure-net Solutions, which runs the event, says: “We are really proud that Jamie has agreed to be our after-dinner speaker at active-net UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Making wellbeing our goal’, his inspiring story of resilience in the face of trauma can help others and serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of safeguarding in our sector.”

As the leading networking event for the active leisure sector, active-net UK will bring together buyers and suppliers from the health, fitness and leisure industry on 23rd and 24th March 2022, at Eastwood Hall in Nottingham.

Over the two day event, delegates will have access to educational seminars and at least 14 one to one meetings with relevant companies/decision makers from local authorities, universities and leisure operators.
